One of the issues we often hear about when discussing career pathways within the community is on the “skills gap”. The skills gap poses that there is a disconnect between the skills employers require for a job and the skills of job seekers. To solve this issue, the education system and employers must work collaboratively to co-design curriculum and work experiences that equip young people with proper knowledge and skills demanded by the current job market. Purpose Driven Paychecks (PDP) was created for this purpose, to catalyze school-business partnerships to fill these gaps that exist in our educational system towards students accessing paid high-quality work experiences.
Across Minnesota, Career Academies initiative is building partnerships to create new pathways for students to explore purposeful, in-demand career opportunities.

Greater Twin Cities United Way and the Minnesota Chamber Foundation have joined forces to amplify quality work experiences for youth across Minnesota through career pathways.
We know that career pathways increase student attendance, improve student earning potential, and have a positive impact on high school and college graduation rates.
